Outfall 001 Notification of Waste Water Treatment System
Dear Dr. Chernikov:
With reference to Part I A (1) of the subject permit, this letter provides notification to you that
construction of the new waste water treatment system is scheduled to be completed and ready for
operation by October 31, 2019. This new WWTS consists primarily of a clarifier with polymer
addition and filter system for solid removal and includes pH adjustment processes. It is being
installed to replace the current WWTS that consists of a rim ditch, settling pond, filter system and pH
adjustment process.
This new WWTS may begin operation in November 2019 if deemed warranted. The current plan is
the WWTS will begin full operation in the first quarter of 2020 when the rim ditch, settling pond,
filter system and pH adjustment process are decommissioned. The treated discharge from this new
treatment system will combine with the discharge from the new Combined Cycle and ultimately
discharge to the French Broad River by NPDES outfall 001.
