FYI - Bridge 318 in Surry County (BR-0123) will now be abandoned rather than replaced. The bridge will not be removed
and it will be turned over to the adjacent property owner. Therefore we no longer need a permit for this
project. Apologies that we were not aware of this potential plan until this week. No action is required on your part, just
wanted to let you know for your files.

Not sure if you are currently working on BR-0123, but if so, hold off on this one for the moment. Apparently the plan
has changed from bridge replacement to abandonment. I will be in touch once we find out if the impacts we presented
in our application are still necessary, need to be revised, are no longer required, or will be handled by the Division.

Now that the plan for BR-0123 has changed to bridge abandonment, will the existing structure be removed (and if so,
will Raleigh be in charge of that or will the Division take it from here)? Will the impacts shown in the final permit
drawings we received (attached) still be necessary for bridge removal? If not, what impacts will still be required?
We have already submitted the permit application for this project and received a 401 Certification. I am going to reach
out to the USACE and tell them to hold off on issuing the 404 for right now until I find out how changing this project to
bridge abandonment affects the necessary impacts to the UT to SF Mitchell River. We may need to modify or just
rescind our application.

Surry County has passed a resolution requesting abandonment of SR1319 in the vicinity of Bridge 318 which was being
replaced under the BR-0123 project. Paperwork has also been submitted by the property owners accepting the
stipulations of this abandonment. Therefore the Department is stopping all work on this project including any right of
way acquisition and utility relocations. It is requested that you reach out to any firms doing work for your unit and
advise them of this stoppage and request a final billing of the project.
The BR-0123 project was receiving funding from the GREATTER Build Grant and we are working to replace it with
another project from Division 11. Once that project is approved by the Board we will place it on the 12 Month Let List
for a July letting. Please let me know if you have any questions.
