Clarification of Mercury Monitoring Requirement
Yadkinville WWTP

Dear Mr. Gray:
This letter is to inform you that your facility is still subject to the low level mercury monitoring and analysis
requirements specified in several previous letters. 'Phis means that any future effluent sample collected for
mercury, be it for Pretreatment LIMP requirements, NPDES Priority Pollutant Analysis requirements, or
NPDES Effluent Sheet requirements, must be collected and analyzed by EPA Method 1631. The previous
email that you received from our staff on March 1, 2004, stating that these new mercury analysis
requirements do not apply, is incorrect.
