Other Violations/Staff Remarks: Face of ash sluffed off into pond at the end of December 2019 as water levels in ash
pond dropped. Sluff resulted in ash blocking in -line turbidity meter and giving a false reading. High levels of solids
not discovered until lab. reported solids test to facility. Operator stopped dewatering of ash basin. Contractor, who
owns dewatering equipment, has installed a flow meter to detect if line to turbidity meter becomes blocked. If blockage
occurs dewatering pumps will automatically shut down and discharge to Outfall #007 will stop.
ORC called and reported incident 1/8/2020 @ 10:25 am.
Supervisor Remarks:
This will need to be addressed by co. No Notices of
Deficiency/violation are issued in Region for Duke
facilities. contact sergei with information so that
he can discuss with 7eff and decide on path forward.
