D. Logging, Inc Pro Logger#6661 Darrell Jones 592 Brown Town Rd. Magnolia, NC 28543 Assisted by: Larry Walters Pro Logger #3198 259 Providence Ch. Rd. Goldsboro, NC 27530 Subject: Buffer Violation on Robert G. Poole tract. November 2018-PC-0129 Wayne County Logging on Poole tract began August 23, 2018 and was completed September 21, 2018. Logging was delayed several days due to excessive rain, wind and flooding caused by Hurricane Florence. 1. After completion of logging, cutter operator was asked to clean out SMZ crossing and be sure no debris was left in buffer area. After the operator had removed some larger trees from Zone 1 and Zone 2 of buffer, he then began removing damaged smaller trees. He thought this the proper course of action. 2. See map (attached) area of buffer impacted. 3. Restoration Plan: We have planted mostly Ash and some Sweetgum seedlings on Zone 1 and Zone 2 on 11X11 spacing on 322 linear feet of the violated buffer area. 4. In the past we have done an excellent job on protecting buffers and water quality. Prior to this job we should have requested a pre -inspection, especially after storm damage.
