On May 19, Kristen Miguez visited farm 36201 to conduct a complaint investigation and found ponded fresh water mixed with effluent the following day after an irrigation event. Below, are the steps we have taken to prevent any reoccurrence. Corrective action: A) The ponded water was pumped from the affected areas, and no waste left the field. B) The Complex manager reiterated the proper irrigation procedures required by our non -discharge permit and our internal EMS requirements to the OIC. C) A work order was created to address the conditions of the field where the violation occurred, these areas have now been repaired by heavy equipment. Murphy -Brown LLC understands and accepts the responsibility to operate in accordance with the conditions of our operating permit and our own Environmental Management System (EMS) Policy. In this instance, as in any such situation, our EMS requires a root cause analysis of the event as well as a plan of corrective action. The system changes outlined above are components of the corrective action plan for this incident and are in line with our ongoing commitments to regulatory compliance, pollution prevention and continual improvement. If there are any further questions, I may be reached at 910-293-5575.
