Proposed Activity Provide a detailed description of the proposed activity including its purpose and include the type of equipment to be used:* We would simply like to cut down 1 tree that has grown so tall that it towers above our house and makes it extremely dangerous. We have two young children and we live in fear that the tree is going to fall on our house with even the smallest storm. On Feb. 6, 2020, a storm with 80-100 mph winds hit the Lake Royale subdivision. The path of the storm was less than 3/4 of a mile from our house. A LOT of trees in the path snapped and fell down or simply turned over from the roots and fell down. We were barely missed. It is not a matter of "if' this tree will fall, it is "when". Several others in our yard came down in Hurricane Matthew a few years back. This particular tree is so much taller than all the others that have come down and we are so scared of it. We cannot escape it. The tree sits about 38 - 40 feet from the water. We know about the 50-foot restriction but we beg that you let us take this tree down. We are happy NOT to disturb the root or ground beneath the tree. We are happy to let the stump stay there. We will plant some more bushes around it and we are even happy to plant another shorter -growing tree in its place. Please understand that we would never do anything to hurt the lake. It is just extremely dangerous being so tall and it is sure to fall on our house if it comes down in a storm. When we see it swaying in the strong winds it is just incredibly scary. We ask you please to give us authorization to cut the tree down. There will be no heavy equipment, only a man and a chainsaw. They can piece -cut it down from the top by climbing the tree. Thank you so much for your consideration. Attach a site plan as applicable to the project: pick the upload button or drag and drop files here to attach docunent FDF only 5. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project.* We will leave the tree stump in the ground and will not move the earth around the tree. We will plant another tree near it to make up for this one coming down. 1b. Is this an after -the -fact buffer authorization application? C Yes c No 2c. If you answered "yes" to one or both of the above questions, provide an explanation of the violation(s): According to the Property Owners Association of the Lake Royale community, cutting the tree in our back yard would be a violation of the Riparian Buffer Rules. This is why we are requesting special permission to cut down the dangerously tall tree that is a danger to our home. G.
