Dear Sir/Madam,
During review of storm water sampling results,it was observed that there was a slight exceeded
benchmark in Biochemical Oxygen Demand(BOD)from our Outfall 2 location.
Upon immediate investigation,per Tier One requirements,it was discovered that although during
sample event no signs of potential issues were present,in the area approximately 20 yards from
where samples are collected the combination of filtration systems not being properly
maintained/serviced and the off-loading of raw materials,specifically sugar,are considered causes of
the recent exceedance of BOD.Plans are in place to have personnel begin with cleaning filtration
systems and more caution taken place while material is being handled.
Also,due to storms during previous week,high winds were probable cause of material being blown
into grass areas near Outfall 2.
Continued monitoring by Environmental Services Department will take place in order to prevent
future exceeded benchmarks in Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) from Outfall 2.
