Explain the purpose of the proposed project (continue on back): Streambanks of Laurel Branch (Ws -IV, Tr) at a private residence are actively eroding at the project site due a combination of denuded streambank vegetation, upstream piping, and several "100 yr" storms which have impacted the area in the past 36 months. Streambank stabilization measures are proposed to reduce streambank erosion and restore the riparian buffer at the project site. 2b. Describe the overall project in detail, including the type of equipment to be used: Streambank sloping, matting, and planting are proposed at two (2) areas: STA 0+37 — 0+49 river left and STA 0+64 — 0+92 river right. Boulder Toe streambank stabilization with sloping and planting is proposed from STA 1+00 —1+53 where site conditions indicate 4' of bank erosion (laterally from edge of water) in the past 24 months. The landowners are committed to reducing mowing activities in the buffer and maintaining purchased livestake and container plantings. The project will begin with sloping on the river right streambank. All excavated material shall be loaded immediately to a dump truck/trailer via trachoe. The project will proceed with streambank sloping and boulder toe installation on river left. Livestake plantings proposed at all stabilization areas will be installed with matting installation. Bucket plantings will be installed at the conclusion of construction. A Trout Buffer Waiver Application has been approved via NCDEMLR (Tamers Eplin). Construction will begin after the conclusion of the Trout Moratorium (April 15th) on the week of April 20th or April 27th, weather dependent, and will last approximately 3 days. C.
