On pdf page 19 of 41 (plan sheet 2C-2), you will see details for the vault. Also on page 31 of 41 (Permit Drawing sheet 14 of 18 and plan sheet 7), you will see a rock sill across the stream. As Dave said, the vault will be utilized periodically for the property owner to fill his remaining ponds. The rock sill across the stream is just like any other rock sill that we have on our stream restoration projects. I see no problems maintaining fish passage at the vault/sill structure. Let me know if this doesn’t clear things up. We’ll be happy to discuss more if needed. 1 Amy From: Wanucha, Dave <dave.wanucha@ncdenr.gov> Sent: Friday, February 28, 2020 1:23 PM To: Chambers, Marla J <marla.chambers@ncwildlife.org>; Dagnino, Carla S <cdagnino@ncdot.gov>; Braspennickx, Nicholle M CIV USARMY CESAW (US) <Nicholle.M.Braspennickx@usace.army.mil>; Chapman, Amy <amy.chapman@ncdenr.gov> Cc: Archer Sr, Wright <warcher@ncdot.gov>; Euliss, Amy <aeuliss@ncdot.gov>; Earley, Jessica S <jsearley@ncdot.gov>; Abernathy, Brett <jbabernathy@ncdot.gov>; Moore, Byron G <bgmoore@ncdot.gov>; Turchy, Michael A <maturchy@ncdot.gov>; Robinson, Dan <dan.robinson@kimley-horn.com>; Puckett, Lester L <lpuckett@ncdot.gov>; Ellwanger, Claire <claire_ellwanger@fws.gov>; Kiser, Marcus K <mkkiser@ncdot.gov>; Matthews, Monte K SAW <Monte.K.Matthews@usace.army.mil>; Stark, David A <dstark@ncdot.gov>; Barrett, William A <wabarrett@ncdot.gov> Subject: RE: U-2579B Updated Permit Modification Application, Forsyth County Marla, It’s my understanding (and someone at DOT can correct me if I’m off base) that water transfers occur for short periods of time and infrequently. During transfers, I suspect that passage is unlikely. When transfers are not occurring, the sill should not impeded passage. We’ll be monitoring the relocated stream for several years and if a problem develops, it can be addressed at that time. The attached Relocation Plan (section entitled “Water Access for Existing Fish Hatchery”) may help to explain. Could Amy Euliss or someone else at DOT involved with the design address Marla’s concern? Thanks. Dave W.
