Please find attached the competed page 12 of the Pre-construction Notification Form and several
drawings that better show how the project will interface with the existing river.
The Yadkin River in the area where the powerhouse will discharge into the river appears to be man
made from the dam's existing discharge basin to the point where Fish Dam creek joins the river several hundred
feet downstream. The original riverbed lies approximately 100 feet north of where the river is today. Due to this,
the banks of the river where the powerhouse will discharge into the river are steep and covered in large rip rap
and have no wetland characteristics. Therefore this project will not be excavating or filling any wetlands area.
The total area of uplands that will be disturbed by this project is less than 0.5 acre and the use of silt fences and
seeding will be used to minimize any erosion that might occur from entering the river. The powerhouse will be
built on uplands, and only when the plant is ready to be connected to the river will the cofferdam be removed and
the discharge channel excavated. A proper silt curtain will be used during this excavation to minimize the
sediment from entering the river. The use of filter cloth and a heavy blanket of large riprap prior to the silt curtain
being removed will protect the area excavated from erosion.
