Wells May 11,2009 NCDENR Mr.Roger Edwards 2090 US Highway 70 Swannanoa,NC 28778 RE:NOV-2009-PC-03 89 Dear Mr.Edwards: I am in receipt of the NOTICE OF VIOLATION NOV-2009-PC-0389. Please accept this as a partial explanation of the issues with a more detailed explanation to come in the next week or two. The Town of Murphy is in the process of developing a local pretreatment permit for Carolina Prime Pet. I will be forwarding you a copy within the next couple of weeks with the details. We have also fined Carolina Prime Pet for their violation. We have had several electrical problems that have resulted in various problems such as motors being ruined. This is something we have not taken lightly but have had an extremely difficult time in identifying our problems. We have had Murphy Power Board conduct an"audit"but with no results. We contacted Mike Waresak with McGill Associates to assist us by sending an electrical engineer (Phil Fisher) to the plant to see if they could help identify or resolve our problems. Upon their recommendation, we have contracted with Square D (GraybaR in Asheville) to do a complete analysis of our system. I am attaching a copy of the proposed work to be done. We are working diligently to correct our problems at the plant. I will update you as soon as I have information. Please do not hesitate to call me at 828-837-2510 if more information is required. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Sincerely, Anna A. Payne Town Manager Anna A.
