On February 10, 2020, Joan Schneier of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR), Water Quality
Regional Operations Section, and Chloe Lloyd and Vivien Zhong of the DWR Non Discharge Permitting
Branch did a start- up inspection on the above wastewater treatment system. We wish to thank Ms.
Hunter for her interest and assistance during the inspection. The system was quite functional but
non -compliant due to a few leaks and need for additional fencing.
The newly constructed (and oversized) system was signed off on June 28, 2019 and the owners
moved in on August 15. All lids were opened for inspection and everything was relatively clean. The
high water alarms worked and the UV bulb was not definitively checked. Three of four zones were in
use and two drip line leaks in one zone were found and flagged. We discussed options for, finishing
the fence across the north end of the field near the house.
Please have the leaks fixed and the fence finished within 60 days and notify this office when that is
done at [phone].
