Dear Landon,
This letter is written on behalf of the Buncombe County Schools to provide information
as to remedial action taken to the above referenced facility in reference to NOV letter
dated 1-22-20. RPB Systems, Inc. is the contract operations firm, which operates this
facility.
We collected a 47 mg/L BOD on 10-1-19, 64.2 mg/L BOD on 10-15-19, 55.5 mg/L BOD
on 10-23-19, which exceeded the daily maximum of 45 mg/L and resulted in a 43.2
mg/L compliant monthly average. With any abnormal results or visual observations and
make to pH levels as part of our work at the WWTP. We have had several BOD spikes
due to unknown source. We continue to collect extra samples and work with school
board to see if any cleaning chemicals are causing the issue. We also have reduced our
chlorine and dechlor levels to a minimum which has been successful.
