PROJECT SUMMARY: The applicant proposes to construct a 6 ft. wide 200 ft. long pier with a 16' x 16' platform at the end to provide water access for a subdivision. Timberline Land Co., Inc. Major Modification 470-00 Field Investigation Report Page Two Project Setting The development site is located at the end of Bay Point Drive in the Edenton Bay Plantation subdivision on the west side of SR 1114, Chowan County and adjacent to the Albemarle Sound. The property is a 100 ft. wide and approximately 600 ft. deep designated water access area for the subdivision. The property's shoreline has a bulkhead which was authorized by CAMA Major Permit #70-00. The property has an elevation of approximately 4 ft. above normal water level, has soils varying from sandy to sandy loam and is vegetated with indigenous grasses. Adjacent property consists of lots of similar size, soils and vegetation. Both lots (18 + 19) are bulkheaded. The waters of the Albemarle Sound are classified as BNSW by the Division of Environmental and are closed to shellfish taking. Development Proposal In order to provide water access for interior lots of the subdivision, the applicant proposes to construct a 6 ft. wide and 200 ft. long pier with a 16 ft. x 16 ft. (256 sq.ft.) platform at the end of the pier. The total length of the proposed structure is 216 ft. There are no other piers within 1200 ft. of the proposed structure. The water depth at f 200 ft. from shore is approximately -3 ft. Anticipated Impacts The construction of the proposed pier will shade 1456 sq. ft. of Public Trust Area and Estuarine Waters Areas of Environmental Concern. Temporary water turbidity will occur during the construction of the proposed pier. Submitted by: Frank A.
