On December 16, 2005, Jennie Atkins of the Division of Water Quality visited the Tramway Veneer site in Sanford, North Carolina.
Your aid during this visit was greatly appreciated.
North Carolina General Statute 143-215.1(a)(4) states that a permit is required for the point source discharge of stormwater into state
waters. During the her visit, you and Dr. Atkins identified three point sources for the discharge of stormwater from the Tramway
Veneer site. As of this time, the facility does not have a stormwater permit.
Industrial sites are required to obtain permit coverage through either general or individual permits, dependent upon the industrial
activities being conducted at the site. Tramway Veneer would be covered under general permit NCG210000. A technical bulletin for
this permit as well as an application ("Notice of Intent') for a certificate of coverage (COC) under the permit is enclosed with this
letter.
At the time of the visit, a large amount of old equipment was being stored outdoors. If this equipment is removed or relocated to a
covered area, the facility may be eligible for no exposure certification since all industrial activities at the site occur indoors. A no
exposure certification application has also been enclosed with this letter. If you choose this option, please mail the completed form to

Please respond to this letter by submitting an application for either a COC or no exposure certification by February 16, 2006. Failure
to submit the document by the required date may result in the assessment of civil penalties against the facility.
