However, since the mining activity will take place within 400' of delineated wetlands we have created and Operation and Maintenance Plan to ensure no negative impact will occur to the wetlands. First, we will install a permanent depth marker in wetlands that hold water year round, marking winter water level and summer water level. This will allow observation of any potential drawdown of water levels. If a significant drawdown is observed due to a dewatering event we will dewater into affected wuland using a silt bag to prevent silt from entering wetland. Second we will continually observe the vegetative state of wetlands that do not hold water year round but have been delineated due to plant species or soil conditions. If vegetative species are adversely affected we will dcwater using a silt bag to prevent silt from entering delineated wetland. Third, mining site/ haul roads are sloped to drain internally into the pit. This will prevent runoff of sediment/ silt into wetlands. All BMP's noted in existing NPDES permit 4 NCG020565 are in place and will continue to be utilized_ If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 919-778-3252.
