Inspection Summary:
Gary Novak and myself performed this site visit to discuss for consistency and understanding, each of the programs
(NPDES SW and the Mining Permit program expectations). Gary was doing a follow up site visit to see that the slopes had
been stabilized for reclaimation. We met with the Operator, Andy Purifoy and explained the benefits/expectations of getting
adequate ground cover established on the recently groomed reels, prior to the material eroding back into the pit (Seeding
and mulching are required to stabilize).
We each explained that stabilizing areas as the operation proceeds minimizes impacts, expense, access, and therefore
minimizes reclaimation cost/effort/time.
Additional site visits are expected.
