Send all suspicious email as an attachment to ort.s am nc. ov Randy and others, Sorry for the delayed response to this email but I wanted to acknowledge it and respond. Thank you for your response to the 12/20/2018 letter concerning the Valhalla WTP. 1) We do plan to replace monitoring well MW9DD. I am not sure exactly when it will happen, as we want to sample the recently installed new monitoring wells next the Millpond and use that data to make an informed decision about placement. 2) We do plan to develop background concentrations for iron and manganese. We will also develop a background concentration for chloride as suggested also. We will do our best to keep you updated on progress concerning the groundwater contaminant plume at the Valhalla WTP. Thank you! Sincerely, Katie T. Hackney, P.G. We generally agree with the proposed scope of work and schedule. We did have the following two comments. Concerning the proposed monitoring well installation and abandonment described in Item 1, we request, as we did in our 11/20/18 CAP comments, that if MW9DD is abandoned it be replaced so the vertical extent of contamination in the area directly downgradient of the facility can continue to be monitored. In Item 6 it is proposed to develop background concentration levels for iron and manganese. Because chloride is also naturally occurring in groundwater, a background concentration should also be developed for it. Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you. Dwight Randy Sipe P.G.
