at Overhills High School cafeteria located at 2495 Ray Road, Spring.Lake, 28390.

questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to submit
written comments or questions will be provided and is encouraged. Interested citizens

- -NCDOT-proposes to "widen SR-1"121- (Ray -Road)-"from-NC-210-to-SR 1120 ---__
(Overhills Road), and realign the Ray Road and Overhills Road intersection. Ray Road
will be widened from the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane, grassy-median
divided roadway, and will include an additional two feet on each outside lane to
accommodate bicycles, and an additional ten feet of level area behind the curb and
gutter for any future sidewalks.
The purpose of the project is to improve the traffic carrying capacity on Ray Road
and to accommodate future traffic. There is anticipated growth in the area due to the
influx of a large number of military personnel, family members, and private contractors,
associated with the military Base Realignment and Closure (BRAG) program.
Maps displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the
environmental document, the Categorical Exclusion (CE), are available for public review
at: Spring Lake Town Hall - Municipal. Building, located at 300 Ruth Street, Spring Lake,
and at the Spring Lake Public Library, 101 Laketree Boulevard, Spring Lake. In
Fayetteville, they are also available for public review at the NCDOT Division 6 Office,
