Mr. John Hennessy Mr. Charles Brown, P.E., PLS Mr. Reginald Abbott, Jr., Right of Way Agent - Division 6 FHWA NOTICE OF A DESIGN PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED WIDENING OF SR 1121 (RAY ROAD) FROM NC 210 TO SR 1120 (OVERHILLS ROAD) TIP Project No. U-3465 Harnett County The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a Design Public Hearing on Thursday, July 16, 2009, between the hours of 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm at Overhills High School cafeteria located at 2495 Ray Road, Spring.Lake, 28390. NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions will be provided and is encouraged. Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours. Please note: there will be no formal presentation. - -NCDOT-proposes to "widen SR-1"121- (Ray -Road)-"from-NC-210-to-SR 1120 ---__ (Overhills Road), and realign the Ray Road and Overhills Road intersection. Ray Road will be widened from the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane, grassy-median divided roadway, and will include an additional two feet on each outside lane to accommodate bicycles, and an additional ten feet of level area behind the curb and gutter for any future sidewalks. The purpose of the project is to improve the traffic carrying capacity on Ray Road and to accommodate future traffic. There is anticipated growth in the area due to the influx of a large number of military personnel, family members, and private contractors, associated with the military Base Realignment and Closure (BRAG) program. Maps displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the environmental document, the Categorical Exclusion (CE), are available for public review at: Spring Lake Town Hall - Municipal. Building, located at 300 Ruth Street, Spring Lake, and at the Spring Lake Public Library, 101 Laketree Boulevard, Spring Lake. In Fayetteville, they are also available for public review at the NCDOT Division 6 Office, located at 558 Gillespie Street.
