The Division has determined that your application is incomplete and cannot be processed. The application is on hold until all of the following items are addressed: • The photo you provided shows existing rip rap on the shoreline with no signs of erosion. Please explain why you are proposing additional rip rap and a sea wall here. Shoreline stabilization is not approvable without erosion. I have discussed the proposed sea wall with Duke Energy. Duke Energy will only allow a sea wall to be constructed on Lake Rhodhiss if there is 3 feet or more of shoreline erosion. There does not appear to be sufficient erosion to allow this. The application shows that you are proposing to build a sea wall out into the lake. Have you discussed this activity with Duke Energy? My understanding is that Duke Energy will allow a sea wall to extend 2 feet into the lake, but no more. Please provide photos documenting shoreline erosion where you are proposing stabilization. Multiple photos may be needed. Include a tape measurer or a shovel (for scale) in the picture to show the degree of erosion. Pursuant to Title 15A NCAC 02H .0502(e), the applicant shall furnish all of the above requested information for the proper consideration of the application.
