Subject: Courtesy notification for the use of a NW 3 & 13 request for pipe replacement and rip rap
placement on SR 1318 (Middle Swamp Rd) in Gates County.
This is a courtesy notification from the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the use of
a NW 3 & 13 permits for the replacement of a pipe and rip rap placement on SR 1318 in Gates County. The
pipe is located 3.15 miles north of US 158. The existing pipe is 76" x 42" x 36'Corrugated Metal Pipe. The
culvert will be completely removed, following NCDOT BMP's for pipe replacement. The proposed culvert
is 73" x 55" x 40' Corrugated Aluminum Alloy Pipe Arch with rip rap on both ends. During the project
construction it is anticipated that dewatering will not be necessary due to a relatively small amount of water
in the feature. Permit drawings and a site location map are included in this letter. If you need any
