Program Objectives
• Implement a program to train NCDOT staff and
contractors about the importance of stormwater quality
• The training should include topics such as spill control,
chemical application, illicit discharge and illegal
dumping, etc.
• Disseminate the results of NCDOT-sponsored and other
relevant research to staff and contractors in a timely,
context -related manner
• Develop training, guidance, and other outreach materials
that are user-friendly, relevant, and tailored to the
audience

About the Workshop
This onei course is for engineers and technicians designing erosion and sediment coi IE&SCI plans on
NCDOT projects, including Reclamation Plans. The course focuses on calculations for selecting and sizing hest
management practices [EMPs} to meet regulatory r uiremerrcs ror NCDCT Topics mlude hydmll min,
regulations. channels, sediment and turbidity control. and below meter table borrow pit location in relation to
wetlands. The one -hour examination must be passed for certification. This is a classroom course that includes
—ple problems worked throughout the day Parvcipants re,:erve a notebook mth presentations, example
problems. and reference materials required to pass the examination.

• NCDOT's HSP staff lead and/or participate in various
specialized NPDES or stormwater related training
annually, including conferences, seminars, webinars,
certifications, as practicable
• NCDOT follows train -the -trainer approach throughout to
best reach applicable staff and contractors
• Training programs continue to emphasize E-learning
options

described herein, but most of NCDOT's specific program
