Army Corps of Engineers Washington Regulatory Field Office Post Office Box 1000 Washington, North Carolina 27889-1000 Dear Mr. Biddlecome: Subject: EEP Mitigation Acceptance Letter: B-4520, Replace Bridge Number 32 on SR 1100 (Carters Road), Gates County; Chowan River Basin (Cataloging Unit 03010203); Northern Outer Coastal Plain (NOCP) Eco-Region The purpose of this letter is to notify you that the Ecosystem Enhancement Program (EEP) will provide the compensatory riparian wetland mitigation for the unavoidable impact associated with the above referenced project. Based on the information supplied by the NCDOT on October 19, 2009, the impacts are located in CU 03020104 of the Tar-Pamlico River Basin in the Northern Outer Coastal Plain (NOCP) Eco-Region, and the anticipated mitigation credits needed to offset the impacts are as follows: Chowan Stream Wetlands Buffer (Sq. Ft.) 03010203 Non- Coastal Zone NOCP Cold Cool Warm Riparian Riparian Marsh Zone 1 2 Impacts (feet/acres) 0 0 0 0.206 0 0 0 0 Mitigation Units 0 0 0 0.412 0 0 0 0 (Credits-up to 2:1) Mitigation associated with this project will be provided in accordance with Section X of Amendment No. 2 to the Memorandum of Agreement between the N. C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the N. C. Department of Transportation, and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers fully executed on March 8, 2007 (Tri-Party MOA). EEP commits to implement sufficient compensatory riparian wetland mitigation in the appropriate cataloging unit in the amount listed in the above table to offset the impacts associated with this project by the end of the MOA year in which this project is permitted. If the above referenced impact amounts are revised, then this mitigation acceptance letter will no longer be valid and a new mitigation acceptance letter will be required from EEP.
