Assessment Findings
• Powerline
Runs through wetland
Access issue
• East Buffalo Creek is severely
perched on hillslope and jumps
out of bank flowing into main
valley for >5 year event
• UT2 has multiple issues
Ditched sections
Overgrown with E. Ivy
Mid -channel bar
• UT3 restoration could cross to
main low point, but seems to
fit better in the near valley
with large linear wetland
wetland
Mainstem and UT2 fit best to
middle of valley
FEMA considerations are
present

Functional Uplift and Related Benefits
of Proposed Concept
• Hydrologic, Hydraulic and Geomorphic Function
WILDLANDS
ENGINEERING
• Improve hydrology to existing and relict wetlands, especially in dry season
• Reconnect surfacewater and groundwater — enhanced lateral and vertical
connectivity for habitat and physicochemical benefits
• Restore full range of stream flows (all large flows currently spill over levy)
• Restore natural overbank interaction
• Sediment continuity (East Buffalo occupies middle of valley above & below)
• Riparian buffer has enhanced capability for filtration
• Setup natural stream evolution and reduce risk of future avulsion
• Cycling of nutrients within hyporheic zone is enhanced
• Practical and Other Benefits
• Reduces need to apply herbicide within immediately vicinity of creek
• Tributary and natural dendritic network is reestablished — landscape pathways
• Best option for overhead utility
• Streambank is not significantly impacted for sole purpose of privet removal
