One point I wanted to add for this project in reference to salvaging any of the current instream habitat and
organisms. Because the entirety of the new channel is completely off line it will complicate that process. In a lot of
situations where we can salvage bedload or relocate species the new channel crosses over the old and the construction
can be done in smaller sections. That allows the construction of a new section with flow and relocating from the next
section into the new and bedload from the old abandoned channel can be used in the new ... etc. For this project reusing
any bedload material out of the existing stream will require a lot of excavation in a live stream, and relocation of
organisms will have to occur all at once when water is diverted. Having not seen the site this might not be that big of an
issue, particularly if there is no bedload to salvage. But something to think about.
