Subject: Neuse and Tar/Pam Buffer Strategy
5115100 Site visits
Beaufort, Pitt and Pamlico County
Dear Mary Beth:
On May 15, 2000, we conducted field surveys to determine compliance witfi the Neuse
and Tar/Pam Buffer Rules. We visited four (4) different sites and made stream determinations.
The following is a brief summary of each site with associated maps and pictures:
1. Tributary of Cindy Edwards Branch - two features examined. Both features were
determined to be exempt from the rules. The subject drainage appears to have been
excavated for farm drainage.
®®0 ? '? ®2 Tributary of Chocowinity Creek - one feature examined. This feature showed on
the soils map as well but appeared on the ground as a low depressional areas. The
feature was determined to be exempt.
3. Tributary to Little Swift Creek - one feature examined. The feature was
determined to be exempt. It appeared the drainage was cut for farm drainage with
water ponding on the upstream portion and a dry bed on the downstream portion.

4. Tributary to Morgan Mill Swamp - one feature examined. This feature was
determined to be exempt. The drainage was bottomland swamp with no definitive
channel running through the woods.
