DRAWER 192 BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA 28(i07 ■ Batch discharger, but some overflow is possible. Flow meter is read every production day and recorded. Zero flow recorded on production days is included in calculated averages. ■ One silver result was eliminated from SNC calculation, but no other spreadsheet. The permit limit had been issued more stringent than necessary for the purpose of maximizing silver AHL at the WWTP due to the new water quality standard required for HWA and the lack of a historical need at the industry. An increase to the permit limit was needed so that this batch discharge would be compliant. The industry delayed the needed maintenance event to ensure compliance. In the middle of this process, the mag meter calibration technician arrived and ran 9 gallons through the flow tube to calibrate the effluent flow meter. Using BPJ as justification, the Town did not issue an NOV for this event. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION: NONE Hospitality Mints, LLC IUP 40003, Candy Maker SNC INFORMATION: NONE ORDERS AND SCHEDULE INFORMATION: NONE A TO C INFORMATION: ■ Installation of valve to keep now moving through the pretreatment system during plant shutdown period ■ A to C date: 1/17/19 for temporary installation to test ■ Construction began and finished 1/17/19 ■ A to C date: 5/6/19 for temporary installation to be permanent ■ First sampling event resulted in compliant, but wide pH fluctuations, so the industry moved caustic soda discharge tubing to inlet side of mixing tank and installed a valve much closer to the end of the tubing, so that the amount of caustic delivered is more controlled, which helped to narrow the fluctuations some. The closer valve continues to cause some issues with pH -control during extended non -production hours, but the industry is preventing it from reaching significant non- compliance by monitoring and adjusting the technology in a timely fashion. MISSING DATA INFORMATION: ■ Flow is not monitored daily during production breaks (eg weekends), but is part of the totals once production restarts at the beginning of the week. ■ Flow data that was erroneous due to back-up in the collection system was removed from the IDSF. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION: ■ This industry has continuous pH monitoring that logs pH every 5 minutes. This is only reported when the pH permit requirement has been exceeded at any time, whether production is occurring or not. Technicians also record pH daily during production activity and submit this monthly, which provides the number of days that production occurred. The compliance judgment policy used for SNC calculation is that the number of pH violations reported from either log is to be divided by the number of production days. This completes the 2019 Nart ative. If you have any questions or CA information, please call me at 828/268-6270 or email at karen.reece@townofboone.net. Sincerely, xc Karen W.
