We respectfully submit an application package for a Fast Track Sewer System Extension Permit on behalf
of Raleigh Durham International.
NCDOT has designed a roadway project (1-5700) at 1-40 and Airport Blvd that will rework the interchange
itself as well as some nearby roads. Pleasant Grove Church Road is being realigned at Airport Blvd to
accommodate the new interchange. The Airport has an existing force main that is conflict with the new
alignment of Please Grove Church Road. We plan to parallel a short section the existing force main with
a new force main.
We have not been able to locate original permits for the existing force main. As such, we understand
that a new permit will be required for the relocation. Since this is a relocation, there is no new flow
associated with the proposal. Hot taps, with tapping sleeve and valves, are proposed to accomplish this
work to avoid a shutdown of the upstream pump station and force main. No changes are proposed at
the pump station itself.
Our design of the sewer force main relocation is being included in the overall NCDOT construction
project contract. Any permits required of the overall project, excluding the utility permits, are being
handled by NCDOT. All work will be performed within right of way obtained by NCDOT.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your
time and consideration regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
PV"

Subject: RDU 1-5700 sewer force main relocation application revision
Ron and Cayton,
Ted Cashion (CC'ed) with the State is reviewing the permit application for the sewer force main relocation that CJS
Conveyance designed for the airport. There was one question on the application where we should have selected "No"
instead of "N/A". We need to revise that answer on the previously signed form.
The section in question is shown below. We interpreted that question incorrectly. We considered a sewer collection
line to be distinct from a sewer conveyance line (gravity versus force main), so we marked "N/A". However, that was
not the intent of the question. Since our sewer lines are not "high priority", we believe selecting "No" is appropriate.

Jeremy,
We are reviewing the subject application.
Item IX.6 was marked "NA' for high priority lines. Please confirm (by either'yes or no') if this project contains high
priority lines as defined in 15A NCAC 02T .0402.
Items IV and V of the application were not completed as required. In the future, please contact the owner of the
treatment plant to obtain this information; please do not leave items on the application blank. We will complete this
section for you this time (IV - WWTP permit no. is NC0048879; V. collection system permit no. is WQC500013).
Incomplete applications increase review time, require that we send requests for additional information, and delay the
issuance of permits. Please ensure all applications are fully completed prior to submittal to expedite issuance of
permits.
We will continue drafting the permit upon submittal of the above.
