Is it facility -specific? The facility has a site -specific SPPP developed utilizing the standard NCDOT SPPP template. The SPPP also includes SPCC requirements, where applicable. What type of stormwater training do facility employees receive? How often? Annual general stormwater awareness training is provided to all Ferry Division staff (300 —400 year round with an additional 600 summer staff). The 9 to 12 member on -site team receives more specific training, including the 40-hour Hazwopper certification at on -boarding and the annual 8-hour refresher. Training is managed through the Learning Management System (LMS) and the Environmental Specialist verifies that training requirements are met. Inspector Training/Knowledge What type of stormwater training does the MS4 inspector receive? How often? See above. Did the MS4 inspector appear knowledgeable about Permit requirements for pollution prevention and good housekeeping? The inspector was very knowledgeable about the site, stormwater and SPCC regulations and requirements, and the site -specific SPPP. The inspector was very knowledgeable about pollution prevention and good housekeeping in general and specifics at the facility. Inspection Procedures Does the MS4 inspector's process include the use of a checklist or other standardized form? The inspector performed a standardized inspection with standardized documentation and reporting. The inspector utilizes Form #19 twice per year, and Form #23 monthly. Does the MS4 inspector's process include taking photos? Yes, the inspector takes photos of problem areas and uses them to provide information to appropriate parties. Does the MS4 inspector's process include reviewing the facility's SWPPP (or similar document)? Yes, the inspector was very familiar with the SPPP. Yes, the inspector walked the entire site and performed a thorough inspection of all industrial areas. Did the MS4 inspector miss any obvious areas of concern? If so, explain: The sandblasting area utilizes glass beads that were accumulated in piles on the ground. The receiving area for runoff from this activity was not known. Does the MS4 inspector's process include presenting the inspection findings to the facility contact? Yes, the reporting process is standardized and the inspector knew who to contact for specific issues. Inspection Results Did the facility inspection result in any corrective actions to be implemented? If so, for what issue(s)? Minor issues were addressed during the inspection. If compliance corrective actions were identified, what timeline for correction/follow-up was provided? Minor issues were addressed during the inspection. Notes/Comments/Recommendations The site is well managed and potential exposure was limited. The inspection team was very familiar with the site and the SPPP. The infiltration area that receives pumped discharges from the ferry transfer pit is inspected and maintained, but not well documented. Outdoor scrap metal stored in skids is exposed to rainfall.
