Hi Matt. It appears as though the proposed impacts (configuration change) are within the footprint of the approved
plans. Please send DWR a set of the final plans when they are complete so that they may be kept with the certification.
If modifications are required when in the field, please let us know.
Thanks,
April

Hi Matt,
1
If you could send us preliminary plan sheets to review so that we can verify the stream and/or buffers are not disturbed
beyond the original permit we can put them in our file and that should be sufficient. Please copy April Norton when you
send them as she worked on the DOT permit and will review the plans with what she previously approved.
Thanks.

Hey Sue-
Hope you are doing well-
We are working on a project here in Greensboro for a development that will involve road “reconstruction” and mass
grading on a parcel of land at the I-73 NC 68 interchange. Part of the road re-construction will involve building a
roadway for NCDOT (SR 4669) that was previously permitted when the I-73 bypass was built and NC 68 was reconfigured
at the interchange over by the airport. The road bed and base was previously constructed during the I-73 construction
with the installation of three stream crossings with culverts and headwalls. As part of this project, we are wanting to
complete the road however with a little different configuration than what was previously planned. The actual alignment
is staying the same, but based on the traffic study, we will need to increase the number of lanes that are crossing over
the culvert for turn lanes. In order not to increase the existing pipe length and disturb the stream bed, we are proposing
adding retaining walls at the edge of the road way shoulder to prevent from regrading the fill slope down to the stream.
So with that being said, what do we need to obtain in order to complete the construction? Being that we are not
disturbing the stream channel, I assume we will not need to alter the existing corp permit? Want to make sure we are
covered from an environmental stand point and have all permits in place before we start construction. I can send you
plans if you need them for reference.
Thanks for your help on this-
