SIU Information:
Karastan Rug Mill
Karastan Rug Mill was not in SNC and no NOV's were given for this PAR year.
Weil McLain
One Notice of Violation was issued to Weil McLain for 2019. On August 26`h 2019, Weil McLain informed
me that there Zinc result was reading 3.1 mg/L verses a permit limit of 1.48 mg/L. Samples were retaken and the
Zinc result was 0.13 mg/L; well within the permit limit. After investigation we identified that a valve on the first
paint wash area had broken and allowed it to flow into the waste water stream fully open. The paint wash stream
would be higher in zinc from the metal cleaning process and is not normally flowing into the waste stream fully
open. The valve has been repaired, and is now double checked during routine process checks. This event does not
place Weil McLain in SNC. A civil penalty of $110.00 was assessed for this violation.
Duke Energy
Duke Energy was not in SNC and no NOV's were given for this PAR year.
Waste Reduction
In an effort to minimize waste, the City of Eden continues to operate a central community Recycling
Center, along with six remote deposit sites. Leaf composting and wood debris mulching operations continue. The
WWTP continues to land apply residual bio-solids on local farms.
Industrial User waste reduction activities are summarized below:
Karastan Rug Mill, Permit No. 1005: Participates in the following waste reduction activities. W39, W51,
W72, W74, and W75.
Weil McLain, Permit No. 1012: Participates in the following waste reduction activities. W19, W29, W34,
