1) Please provide the following information about the proposed stormwater wetland:
a) The following items are missing from the Required Items Checklist:
i) Supporting Design Calculations for sizing the wetland, the drawdown
calculations for sizing the drawdown device;
ii) A Soil Report indicating the following two important parameters: (a) the
location (elevation) of the Seasonal High Water Table (SHWT) and (b) the in-
situ soil permeability;
iii) Notarized Operation and Maintenance Agreement;
b) The surface areas of the individual wetland zones indicated on the Supplement
Form do not sum up to the total wetland surface area. Please explain or correct the
discrepancy.
c) The cutout hole/orifice should correctly reflect the proposed dimensions (2.1" x
4.1 "). As shown on plan sheet 10, the hole extends from the permanent pool
elevation 126 feet to the temporary pool elevation 127 feet. Also, if possible,
configure the device such that it draws water from an elevation below the normal
pool to prevent clogging of the orifice hole (use of down-turned orifice is
recommended).
d) Revise the design rainfall depth (from 0.44 in to 1.0 in) as well as the orifice size
(1" diameter) on the Wetland Supplement Form. If a square orifice is proposed,
please make a note on the form and indicate the size. If it is acting as an orifice
and not a weir, the coefficient of discharge should be changed from 3 to 0.59.
e) Please explain how the existing wetlands will not be affected during the
construction of the stormwater wetland. Describe any measures in detail on the
plans. Any temporary impacts should be identified, clearly described and included
in the PCN.
f) This office recommends that the deep pools should be lined with impermeable
liner - synthetic or clay.
g) Planting plan:
i) Please provide spacing information for all proposed plants/shrubs/trees.
ii) Please provide planting instructions on the plan sheet with the planting
schedule.
2) Wetland Impacts: Please furnish this office with an approved wetland jurisdictional
determination by the Corps showing all delineated wetlands on the entire project site.
(Needed to verify that there are no wetland impacts at the proposed wetland location
or any other location on the project site).
