Dear Mr. Vinson:
NC Dept of Environmental Quality
JAN 17 2020
Raleigh Regional Office
Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (Aqua) offers the following response to the above -referenced Notice of
Violation and Intent to Assess Civil Penalty which was issued for Coliform, Fecal matter found in
October 2019 Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR).
Aqua's Response:
On October 24, 2019, all process equipment was operational and functioning; however, it is noted
that the return activated sludge (RAS) line had clogged with pine needles and debris. The RAS line
was unclogged on that day. Solids were not discharged from the wastewater treatment plant. There is
no known reason for the coliform exceedance. The subsequent November 1, 2019 fecal sample result
was 11 MPN? 100 mL.
