Our firm is processing this application, on behalf of Sunset Point @ High Rock Lake LLC, to
excavate approximately 5,500 cubic yards of material from High Rock Lake, Rowan County,
North Carolina.
The purpose of this excavation is to provide boating access to a proposed marina at Sunset Point
Excavation will be accomplished by using a longreach excavator, which will work from the
shoreline. The excavated material will be trucked to a disposal site. The disposal site is owned
by the applicant. A concrete launch ramp is also proposed. This launch ramp will be constructed
of reinforced concrete and will be 6 inches thick, 14 feet wide extended from the fizll pool
(lakeward) 120 feet. All of this work will be in accordance with the Alcoa SMP. All work will be
preformed in the dry. This work will be accomplished during January and February of 2005.
Enclosed for your review are copies of the Alcoa Excavation Application, location map and
project drawing.
To access the project from I-85 go east on Long Ferry Rd./SR 2120 to Goodman Lake Rd., turn
right. Proceed on Goodman Lake Rd/SR2168 and the project is on the right at High Rock Lake

4. Resource impacts assessment-applicant must attach a brief written description of the potential impacts of the proposed excavation activity on surrounding
reservoir resources, including impacts to water quality and fish habitat If there is any vegetation growing in or around the area of proposed excavation, it
should be noted and the areas of vegetation should be photographed, and photos included with application.
5. Schedule for conducting the proposed excavation - applicant must attach a written schedule for oompleting the proposed excavation.
6. Agency Approvals -applicant must attach copies of written concurrence with the proposed excavation from the following agencies (refer to Instructions for

' representative) must return to Yadkin a fully completed application, letters of concurrence from the appropriate agencies if necessary, and a check made out to
APGI, Yadldn Divisionforthe proper application fee.. Please oonsult Yadlan s Shoreline Management Plan and Shoreline Stewardship Policy for detailed
information regarding Yadkin's procedures and requirements governing activities in the reservoirs, along the shoreline, or in the Yadkin-managed buffer (this j ,
