Loving Company 400 Patetown Road Goldsboro, NC Phone: (919) 734-8400 ■ Mr. Justin Hill, Project Manager ■ Mr. Michael Cox Mr. Cox noted that Mr. Hill will be acting as T.A. Loving's project manager. 2. Scope of Work o River Work o Jack & Bore o Turbidity Curtain Mr. Hill noted that work will begin next week and that they are still working on the preliminary schedule but that the cofferdam will be installed by February 29. Ms. Thompson stated that the Corps would like to be notified when the cofferdam installation starts. Mr. Hill noted that they are still evaluating whether to install the piping by bore and jack or conventional open cut. Mr. Mason noted that controlling groundwater will be a challenge. Mr. Hill noted that Best Sand and Gravel will be supplying earthwork materials for bank stabilization. They intend to install these materials during the second period of work (May 1 through July 31) due to current high water levels and washout concerns. Permit Requirements Mr. Boyer noted cofferdam must be installed by end of February, and that work can occur behind the cofferdam between March 1 and April 30. Between May 1 and July 31, the cofferdam can be removed and bank stabilization performed. Mr. Boyer said that T. A. Loving should contact Lenoir County regarding the Building permit and any fees. Mr. Boyer stated that CDM Smith has conducted a no -rise analysis of the temporary structures (cofferdam) and will be submitted an updated no -rise certification to Gary O'Neal at Lenoir County Planning. 4. Schedule Mr. Mason noted that Substantial Completion is 250 days and Final Completion is 280 days from NTP. Mr. Mason asked that T.A. Loving to submit a draft schedule as soon as possible. Mr. Mason noted that a 6-week look -ahead should be provided at monthly progress meetings. Construction Coordination and Maintenance of Plant Operations Mr. Mason stated that T. A. Loving is to coordinate with plant staff before any tie-ins are made and that they must not cut-off access to the pump station. T. A. Loving asked the duration the intake could be down for tie-ins. Mr. Colie said that with coordination that it would be a maximum of one day. T.A. Loving noted that they will need to dig 10 feet below the existing, eastern 36" raw water intake pipe. Mr. Colie noted that a combination lock has been put on the gate at the pump station and that T. A. Loving has the combination. Mr. Colie noted that there are four HDPE air burst lines running between the two 36" raw water intake lines which are not explicitly shown on the drawings but must be avoided during construction. Safety and Protection Mr. Hill said that they will have a boat in the river while work is going on. Mr. Mason noted that flooding of the river can cut off access to the pump station and that the Contractor should secure the construction area during wet weather and possible flood events. Mr. Colie asked that the plant staff be given a copy of T. A. Loving's safety plan. Pre -Construction Photography Mr. Mason asked that T. A. Loving document any existing damage at the pump station and that at the close of work, T. A. Loving will be responsible for correcting any undocumented damage. 8. Application for Payment Mr. AI-Masri noted that certified payrolls and AIS requirements do not apply to this project. He noted that any change orders must be reviewed by the state before they can be incorporated into the project. Mr. AI- Masri also noted that T. A. Loving will need to submit forms for any subcontractors they use that were not listed in the bid documents. 9. Shop Drawings Mr. Mason stated that ProCore is working fine for submittal review and asked the Mr. Jackson and Mr. Boyer be invited to join. 10. Startup, Testing, And Training Mr. Mason stated that T. A. Loving should provide 48 hours advanced notice before any material testing is required. 11. Coordination/Progress Meetings It was decided that monthly progress meetings would be held on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 PM. 12. Discussion of Other Items Ms. Thompson asked if the Corps could get a copy of the Record Drawings at the end of the project. Mr. AI-Masri asked for a copy of the signed contracts to be sent to Pam Whitley. Mr. Herring asked who T. A. Loving was using as surveyor. Mr. Hill stated that they are using Matrix East.
