Per our discussion in the truck last Thursday, the Division would like to pursue rip rap fill in Pond NPA (Site 27) in lieu of a
retaining wall due to long term maintenance concerns and the substantial cost associated with a retaining wall at this
location. As noted below, 2:1 rip rap fill would add 0.117 acres pf permanent surface water impacts in what is currently
shown as “TS” on the attached 4C drawing. Please let me know if your agency has any concerns with this proposed
change in design and impacts.

Thanks, Katrina. Do we have to add GR due the temporary condition at 2:1 or 3:1? We’re using this stretch as the temp
US 17 detour.

Mason that me know your thoughts. The numbers below end up being 0.117 acres at 2:1 and 0.188 acres @ 3:1.

There are 5087 SF of impacts to the JS MIT along Y19 with a 4ft berm and 2:1 fill slope below the proposed noise
wall. The impacts increase to 8177 SF with a 3:1 fill slope. Please see the images below. If you have any questions,

Katrina, for this request, will you put in a 4 foot wide berm behind the proposed noise wall and then a 2:1 slope (which
will be covered in riprap for stability) that extends into the pond? Let us know what the impact area is.

Thanks, Ricky. I left a vm. Assuming we don’t put in the retaining wall, but put in our typical slope, please quantify
surface water impacts to the pond. We can even tighten up the slope (2:1) if we have to. Impacts to the JS Non-Mit
pond may be preferred over the construction and future maintenance of a wall in this location. We’ll need the impacts
quantified to make the call.
