SCREWS. AT LAP LOCATIONS OF THE GALVANIZED METAL FORMS, USE SHEET METAL SCREW CONNECTIONS AT 12"

11. METAL DECK FORM ANGLES SHALL BE GALVANIZED LIGHT GAUGE METAL. WHERE FORM ANGLES ARE WELDED TO THE
METAL DECK FORM, WELDS SHALL BE CLEANED AND COATED WITH AN INORGANIC ZINC PRIMER. FOR INORGANIC ZINC
PRIMER, SEE SECTION 1082 OF THE NCDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
12. WHEN POURING CONCRETE FOR THE CONCRETE DECK, CONSTRUCT A TIMBER MAT ON TOP OF THE UNPOURED
DECKING TO PROTECT AGAINST DEFORMATION TO THE METAL DECK FORM AND WELDED WIRE FABRIC MESH.
13. 1/2" OPEN JOINTS SHALL BE PLACED AT EACH BENT LOCATION AND AT 10' MAXIMUM CENTERS ALONG THE LENGTH OF
THE BOARDWALK.
14. ALL BOLTS, NUTS, WASHERS, ETC. SHALL BE HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED AFTER FABRICATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH
ASTM A153 UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. SIMPSON STRONG TIE CONNECTORS (WHERE USED) SHALL BE GALVANIZED.
15. TREATED TIMBER AND LUMBER SHALL BE USED AND SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH 2O18 NCDOT STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS, SECTION 1082 AND SHALL BE SOUTHERN PINE, GRADE 1 OR BETTER.
16. ALL WORK SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. ANY DISCREPANCIES FOUND ON THIS
DRAWING SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER BEFORE PROCEEDING.
17. BASIS OF PAYMENT FOR THE BOARDWALK WILL BEAT THE CONTRACT UNIT PRICES FOR BOARDWALK 10 FOOT SPANS,
BOARDWALK 20 FOOT SPANS, BOARDWALK TIMBER PILES 10" MIN. TIP DIAM., AND CONCRETE DECK, AND WILL BE FULL
COMPENSATION FOR FURNISHING ALL MATERIAL, LABOR, TOOLS, AND INCIDENTALS NECESSARY FOR INSTALLING IN

18. X-BRACE TIMBER PILES IN THE TRANSVERSE DIRECTION IN ALL BAYS WHEN TOP OF BOARDWALK EXCEEDS 5'-0" IN
HEIGHT FROM TOP OF DECK TO GROUND SURFACE. X-BRACE IN LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
