The assistance and cooperation of Mr. Jason Matthews, were very helpful and appreciated. A checklist of items is enclosed with this letter. During the inspection the following items were noted: 1.) US Army Reserve holds a deemed sewer collection system pen -nit for the facility located at 3677 NC Hwy 55 in Wake County. There has been no reportable sanitary sewage overflow (SSO) incidents from the collection system since the last inspection. 2.) The collection system includes gravity sewer lines, force mains, and one duplex pump station. Wastewater from the facility is pumped into Town of Cary's sewer main. 3.) The facility needs to maintain a map of the system on site. Map %vas not available for review at the time of inspection. 4.) The facility needs to develop and implement an operation and maintenance plan which shall include the frequency of pump station inspections, preventive maintenance schedule (if needed), and overflow response action plan (see enclosed inspection report for details). 5.) The lone pump station was upgraded from simplex to duplex in 3anuary 2019. The pump station is not equipped with a telemetry system, therefore, must be inspected daily (365 days per year). Pump station inspection records were not available at the time of inspection. RRO strongly encourages the facility to consider installing a t-*vo- J\ Vur tit r .rr-1 tr.j {)rl,.r urrril ui E u.uo• n r r 1.11 Cru i ity hiv';i,rn of IV,ttrr kry,:w C os Jam/,' R,r', .rlr k urr rt.i U°1 , , „it,rJ L' : n It f) ,c• I I,u;Ii. h.rrr(r (';rn;irr,r .:Tisllrl 019i`11,1200 way "auto polling" communication system (SCADA) or a simple one-way telemetry/communication system (auto -dialer). After such telemetry system is installed, the frequency of pump station inspections can be reduced to once per week. Pump station inspections must be documented. 6.) It was noted that the wet well and control panel at the pump station was not secure with restricted access, and need to be padlocked. A sign must be posted at the pump station, which shall include owner name, pump station identifier, address, instructions for notification, and 24-hour emergency contact numbers. Please respond to RRO in writing within 30 days of receipt of this letter regarding Items 3, 4, S, and 6. If you have any questions regarding the attached report or any of the findings, please contact Cheng Zhang at: (919) 791-4200 (or email: clieng.zhang_(t'bncdenr.2gov).
