Paul,
A modification of the 401 will not be required. The information you have provided is sufficient for our files. Any
necessary dewatering will need to be done in a manner that does not violate water quality standards. Thanks.

Paul,
This modification will not require the a formal submittal to the Corps to utilize coffer dams in your construction methods
to install this bridge. These temporary dams need to be removed in their entirety after construction is complete. You
may utilize this correspondence as the Corps approval to modify the construction methodology for this project. The
information you submitted and this email will be added to the official file for this project. Let me know if you have any
questions.
Kyle

G reg,
After the preconstruction meeting for Bridge 35 in Hyde County, we discussed the water levels at the project with the
contractor further. It was decided temporary cofferdams would be needed for the interior bent and the end bents to
ensure the caps could be poured without contacting surface waters. I have attached a drawing depicting 2 phases of
cofferdams. The cofferdams would be sequentially constructed and not installed at the same time. NCDOT requests the
modification of CAMA General Permit No. 72612 to construct the phased cofferdams. This would temporarily impact
approx. 1,750 sq. ft. in total of surface waters.
Thanks, and let me know if you need additional information.
