ECS Southeast; LLP (ECS) is pleased to provide you with. our Report of Seasonal High
Water Table (SHUNT) Study for the Metcor Metal Fabrication Site Improvements
proposed Stormwater Control Measure (SCM).
Project In
The site is Located at 835 Salem Road, Lexington,. North Carolina. The proposed SCM
were located on a site map provided by Triad Design Group (Figure 1)_ Two borings
were extended to. a depth of eleven feet below ground surface (bgs).with a hand auger..
Scope of Services
ECS conducted a study of the soils. to identify the depth of the seasonal high water table, if
present. The properties and characteristics of the soils retrieved from the borings were
observed and. recorded in field notes. The properties include texture; depth, the presence of
restrictive.horizons, depth to seasonal high water table, coarse fragments, etc. The
assessment was conducted in general accordance with current. sail science.. practices and
technology and the North Carolina Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources
Stormwater Design Manual.
Seasonal High Water Table Study
Below is a summary of the soils retrieved from. the borings.
SHWT-1 _ The surface layer to a depth of 6 inches bgs consists of brown sandy loam. The
structure appears to be granular with friable consistence. The. subsurface layerfrom 6 to 42
inches bgs consists of yellowish red clay. The structure appears to be moderate medium.

layer from 42 to 58 niches bgs consists of reddish yellow sandy loam. The structure
appears to be massive with friable consistence. The subsurface layer from 58 to 132 inches

consistence.
SHWT-2 — The surface layer to a depth of 15 inches bgs consists of brown sandy loam,
The structure appears to be granular with. friable consistence, The subsurface layer from 15
to 42 inches bgs consists of reddish yellow clay. The structure appears to be weak fine
subangular blocky with friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic consistence. The subsurface.
layer from 42 to 72 inches bgs consists of reddish yellow sandy .clay loam with pale brown
streaks. The structure appears to be massive with frable consistence. The subsurface
layer from 72 to 13.2 inches bgs consists of multi -colored sandy loam. The structure
appears to be massive with friable consistence. Lateral water flow was observed. at 72
inches bgs.

The type of stormwater management facility designed. is. based on the depth of the SHVVT.
andlor confining. layer. The information above can be utilized to determine the. type. of
stormwater .management facility best suited for this site according to the North Carolina
Division of Energy,. Mineral, and Land. Resources Stormwater Design Manual.
