Box 1890 Wilmington, North Carolina 28402-1890 --- ATTN: Ms. Kimberly Garvey NCDOT Coordinator Dear Madam: Subject: Notification for Nationwide Permit 14 (Minor Road Crossing) NCDENR 401 WQC 3704 Culvert Replacement SR 1104, James Pait Rd- Bladen County State Project Number: 41885.2.1 TIP#: W-5121 CORRECTED The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to improve the intersection of NC 131 and NC 41. The intersection has been identified as hazardous to the motoring public by NCDOT "Traffic Services. NC 131 will be offset approximately 800 feet to the West. Totally project length is 0.88 miles. This project will require the replacement of one (1) intermittent stream crossing as shown below: Crossing Roadway Station Existing Culvert Proposed Culvert Permit site #1 Sta. 13+57 (Y3) 40 LF 24" RCP 72 LF 42" RCP 38 LF 36" CMP Neiv Stream Impacts = 19 linear feet Construction of this project will require impacts to the waters of the United States in the Lumber River Basin. Permit site #1 conveys drainage to an UT to Bear Ford Swamp (Class C, Sw). The project is located within the 03040203 Hydrologic Unit, sub basin 03-07-53. Permit Site #1 is located at (Sta. 13+57); along the relocated intersection of SR 1 104 (James Pait Rd) and NC 131 (Y3). There is currently a 40 LF 24" CMP that carries water from an intermittent tributary of Bear Ford Swamp across SR 1104. This then feeds into a road side ditch; turns West and flows underneath a field road with an existing 38 LF 36" CMP. A 72 LF 42" RCP will be installed under SR 1104 along a 110° skew. There will be a 19 LF stream impact due to the shortening of the ditch (G type). P. O. Box 1150, Fayetteville, NC 28302-1150 - Telephone (910) 437-0207- Fax (910) 486-1959 q C .
