Atlas Environmental, Inc. (Atlas) has been retained by Imerys: Performance Minerals for
their Kings Mountain Minerals location to manage the environmental monitoring
requirements for their associated NPDES permits. Atlas is herewith submitting the 2017
Annual Stormwater Summary and the 2017 Annual Mine Wastewater/Dewatering
Summary for Imerys Mica Kings Mountain, COC: NCG020089, located in Cleveland
County. Atlas staff collected the 2017 monitoring data. The Wiley Mine, previously
Outfall 4, has been completely reclaimed including the temporary sediment basins. A
site inspection was conducted with Mr. James Moore, Mrs. Mary Hays, and Mr. Holliday
Keen on June 7, 2017 with Atlas staff. The inspection summary detailed that pending
final reclamation the Wiley mine, outfall 4, could be omitted from sampling in future
years. Final reclamation occurred after the June 7, 2017 DEQ site meeting.

If an effluent limit is exceeded, the pennittee is required to institute monthly monitoring for that parameter for the remaining permit term.
