SECTION 5.0 DISCHARGE SAMPLING AJID ANALYSIS The General Permit requires sampling and analysis of point source discharges that fall in the following categories. Mine dewatering and/or discharges of process wastewater, including commingled stormwater. Stormwater discharges from other plant areas where the stormwater has contacted areas directly related land disturbance and process areas.. Stormwater discharges from on -site vehicle maintenance areas. 5.1 Process Water and Stormwater Sampling/Analysis Program Refer to Table 1 for required sample frequency and analytical parameters. Thee are three appropriate sampling locations at the Pineville Quarry which will be used to sample various process water and stormwater discharges. Each outfall to be sampled is listed below along with a brief description of each outfall's type of discharge. Representative Outfalls to be Sailed: Outfall Latitude 1 Receiving Outfall Type Source of Discharge No. Longitude Stream 35007'08"/ Little Sugar Commingled Mine pit dewatering 110-001 80054'02" Creek Process Water and Stormwater 110-003 35006'58"/ Kings Branch Stormwater Stormwater associated with industrial 80"53'35" activity. This sample location is representative of all discharges from yard and material stock ile areas. 110-005 35007'18"/ Kings Branch Stormwater Stormwater associated with industrial 80053'25" activity. This sample location is representative of all discharges from disturbed access road areas. Note: There are a total of 9 discharge points (8 Stormwater, 1 process water) at the Pineville Quarry site. Mine dewatering flows and runoff from yard, process, material stockpiling, and stripping areas which drain to the pit are pumped, if necessary, to off -site discharge at Outfa11110-001. The shop area also drains to the pit which discharges as process water. Thus, no vehicle maintenance stormwater sampling is required. Outfall 110-003 is a discharge point for the runoff from a small material stockpile and yard area at the southeast part of the site which do not drain to the pit. Outfall 110-005 is the main discharge point for runoff from small portions of disturbed area associated with the quarry access road. Outialls 006, 009, 010, 011 and 012 which all discharge this type of effluent may be eliminated as the road area becomes stabilized with ground cover. tea® HC®E R North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Pat McCrory Governor Vulcan Construction Materials LP Attention: Mr. Tony Johnson 10526 Nations Ford Rd. The General Permit requires sampling and analysis of point source discharges that fall in the following categories. There are three appropriate sampling locations at the Pineville Ouarry which will be used to sample various process water and stormwater discharges. Each outfall to be sampled is listed below along with a brief description of each outfall's type of discharge. Renresentathre Outfalls to be Sampled: Outfall Latitude / Receiving Outfall Type Source of Discharge No. Longitude Stream 350=87 little Sugar Commingled Mine pit dewatering 110-001 80054'02" Creek Process Water and Stormwater 1104M 35°06'58"/ Kings Branch Stormwater Stormwater associated with industrial 80053'35" activity. This sample location is representative of all discharges from yard and material stockpile areas. 110-005 35°0T18"/ Kings Branch Stormwater Stormwater associated with industrial 80°53'25" activity. This sample location is representative of all discharges from disturbed access road areas. Note. There are a total of 9 discharge points (8 Stormwater, i process water) at the Pineville Quarry site. Mine dewatering flows and runoff from yard, process, material stockpiling, and stepping areas which drain to the pit are pumped, ff necessary, to off -site discharge at Outfall 110-001. The shop area also drains to the pit which discharges as process water. Thus, no vehicle maintenance stormwater sampling is required. Outfall 110-003 is a discharge point for the runoff from a small material stockpile and yard area at the southeast part of the site which do not drain to the pit Outfall 110-005 is the main discharge point for runoff from small portions of disturbed area associated with the quany access road. Outfalls 006, 007, 008, 009, 010 and 011 which all discharge this type of effluent may be eliminated as the road area becomes stabilized with ground cover. The following table summarizes the total additional outfalls at this site which will not require sampling. The abovementioned outfalls that will be sampled have been linked to the following outfalls based on the overall type of discharge each additional outfall will represent All outfall locations are indicated on the partial mine map in Appendix I. Documentation of representative outfall status should be kept on site within the Mineral Mining Plan.
