Type of Wastewater: 0% Domestic 100% Industrial a. Volume of Wastewater: * MGD (intermittent) b. Types and quantities of industrial wastewater: Pit dewatering of groundwater from quarry operations. C. Prevalent toxic constituents in wastewater: None d. Pretreatment Program (POTWs only): N/A 2. Production Rates (industrial discharges only) in Pounds: N/A 3. Description of Industrial Process (for industries only) and Applicable CFR Part and Subpart: N/A 4. Type of Treatment (specify whether Proposed or existing): There is no existing WWT facilities for the pit water, nor are any proposed. A small settling basin exists for the wire saw, however, this device is used infrequently and discharges will be intermittent. 5. Sludge Handling and Disposal Scheme: No generation of sludge is expected. 6. Treatment Plant Classification: Less than 5 points; no rating (include rating sheet). No rating 7. SIC Code(s): 1429 Wastewater Code(s): Primary: 42 Secondary: Page Three PART III - OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION 1. Is this facility being constructed with Construction Grants Funds (municipals only)? No 2. 'Special monitoring requests: None at this time. 3. Additional effluent limits requests: Limitations for turbidity are recommended for the discharge from the wire saw. 4. Air Quality and/or Groundwater concerns or hazardous materials utilized at this facility that may impact water duality, air quality or groundwater? No AQ or GW concerns, nor are hazardous materials utilized at this site. PART IV - EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS The applicant requests an NPDES Permit to discharge groundwater and wire saw cooling water from a granite quarry operation in eastern Rowan County. Flows will be intermittent depending on rainfall (pit dewatering), and on quarry production (wire saw). No adverse effect is anticipated on the receiving stream as a result of the proposed discharges, however, should the existing treatment facilities be incapable of complying with the proposed effluent limitations, additional WWT facilities may be necessary. It is recommended that an NPDES Permit be issued. This facility should be eligible for a General Permit for Mine Dewatering when it becomes available. 7 za 9z Si re of Report Preparer p6te Water Quality egional Supervisor Date i-- m ` 4Ji✓ + j ( ` F 1'\' 4 i u,.., , V 1+. V •:, _)v_ O l . \lfa j + II a = _ ff)ff _ ' f (a , z.0 .- I` l P "° -- . - _ {/\`6 .i" { r•r , s___ u a •• \J } p'/1 `•° . a ° •Y • rl 5 i \ ICI s !
