The site improvements included the construction of the Plasma Warehouse facility with parking. The facility includes a total of 114 employees (38 employees per shift with three shifts per day). Based on Section 15A NCAC 02T .0114, the daily flow for design is 25 gallons/employee/shift. The following summarizes the design wastewater flow for the pumping station: Average Daily Flowrate Peak Daily Flowrate Original Permitted Design _ (114 employees)(25 gal/employee/shift) = 2,850 gpd 2.0 gpm (2.5)(2,850 gpd) = 7,125 gpd 5.0 gpm +/- The original design included a duplex grinder package pump station designed for 38 gpm at 47 feet TDH. The original design also included approximately 1,171 LF of 2" force main. The original design was submitted to NCDEQ and a permit was issued on May 2, 2013 as permit No. WQ0036438. The following provides a summary of permitted improvements: • Permitted flowrate = 2,850 gpd • A duplex pump station designed for 38 gpm at 47' TDH • Approximately 335 LF of 6" gravity sewer • Approximately 1,171 LF of 2" force main Revisions to Permitted Design After issuance of the permit, it was anticipated the condenser units for the Plasma Warehouse facility would need to discharge to the lift station; consequently, alternate pumps were proposed and the force main size was increased to 2-1/2". The alternate pumps were installed along with the larger diameter force main. During construction, the drainage from the building condenser units was directed to the roof drains; consequently, the flow to the lift station did not increase. The following provides a summary of the revisions to the permitted design: Grifols — Pump Station Design (As -Built) 1 10/2919 • Permitted Fowrate = 2,850 gpd (No Change) • A duplex pump station designed for 60 gpm at 47' TDH (Revised Flowrate) • Approximately 165 LF of 6" gravity sewer (Revised Length) • Approximately 1,171 LF of 2.5" force main (Revised Size) Pump Station/Force Main Summary (Based on As -Built Conditions) The following summarizes the revised pump station/force main design and as - built conditions: • Pump Design - Weil Model 2516 Duplex Grinder Pumps o 60 gpm at 47' TDH o 3 Phase, 5 FIR 3450 RPM pumps o Average Daily Flowrateto PS = 2.0 gpm o Peak Daily Flowrate to PS = 5.0 gpm o Top of Lift Station (As -Built) = 293.10 feet o Invert of Lift Station (As -Built) = 284.32 feet • Level Control Settings o OfflStop Setting = 285.35 feet (93" from top) o Lead Pump Setting = 288.35 feet (57" from top) o Lag Pump Setting - 289.35 feet (45" from top) o High Water Alarm Setting = 290.10 feet (36" from top) • Pump Cycle Time (Lead Pump) o Storage Depth (Lead) = 36" o Storage Volume (Lead) = 37.7 CF (282 gallons) o Average Flow Cycle Time = 0.4 Starts per Hour * o Average Flow Run Time = 4.9 minutes o Peak Flow Cycle Time = 1.0 Starts per Hour * o Peak Flow Run Time = 5.1 minutes *Although the pump cycle times are less than 2-8 starts per hour, the Owner has indicated the pump station has been in operation approximately 5 years and they have never experienced odor issues. • Wetwell o Wetwell Size - 48" Diameter Wetwell o Top of Wetwell = 293.10 feet (As -Built) o Invert of Wetwell = 284.32 feet (As -Built) o Storage at Pump Off Setting = 12.9 CF (97 gallons) o Storage at Lead Pump Setting = 50.6 CF (379 gallons) o Storage at HW Alarm = 72.6 CF (543 gallons) o Flow Detention Time = 141 minutes o Buoyancy - The pump station is not located in a floodplain or area with high water table; consequently, ballast concrete was not needed to prevent flotation. Back -Up Power/Alarms o The Grifols Plasma Warehouse and pump station are both connected to a back-up generator for standby power in the event of electrical power outages. Due to the critical nature of the contents of the Plasma Warehouse, electrical power for the warehouse and pump station are monitored closely by Grifols. The pumping station is equipped with both audible and visual high water alarms as well as telemetry which is connected to the permanent emergency generator. A sign is also posted near the pumping station with an emergency number to call in the event the alarms are triggered. The pumping station has been operational for approximately 5 years without issues. The Grifols Plasma Warehouse Pump Station discharges to the Grifols North Fractionation Facility Pump Station located to the east of the Plasma Warehouse site. The original permit application provided documentation confirming the downstream facilities were adequately sized for the additional pump station. Since the proposed flowrate did not change from the original permit application, additional information in not needed for the downstream facilities. Pumping Station TDH Calculations (Based on As -Built Conditions) The following calculations are for determining the pumping head for the pumping station based on the as -built conditions: • Static Head Conditions The pumping station for the Grifols Plasma Warehouse will pump to the existing pumping station located at the Grifols North Fractionation Facility site located east of the Plasma Warehouse site. Please submit a fast track application to modify the original permit, along with the $480 processing fee. The modified permit will void the original permit; in the permit mod application please include all items in the original permit (335 If of 6-inch gravity,1171 If of 2-inch FM; however, the drawing showed a 2.5-inch FM) along with the 60 gpm PS. Also, the approximate volume of the chiller condensate discharge must be included in the application. A revised USE from the Town of Clayton must be submitted with the permit mod application showing the increased flow. Also, the submitted drawing was stamped by the land surveyor and not the PE; ensure the permit mod certification properly includes a PE stamp. When submitting the engineering certification for the permit mod, please include the following items required in Part 111.7 of the permit: a.
