After trying for 8 months to find an utility contractor to raise the 8" steel duct pipe that
crosses the Blue Creek creek on Blue Creek road I couldn't find anyone to do this work.
Realizing that the environmental impact would be significant if the pipe crossing the creek
failed, I had no other alternative but to make the repair with my own crew. On Saturday
December 8`h, we raised the pipe several inches by sinking two 10" pilings 4' in the creek bed
in the same area as the original support was installed. We used a 4 x 6 treated cross member
at the top of the two 10" treated pilings and heavy chain to support the pipe. I have made
daily inspections since the support system was installed and observed no movement of the
support. I appreciate the department being patient with me and I hope my solution is
satisfactory to you.
