Replace an existing 36" X60' CMP that has completely failed with a 36" X60' CAP. Pipe is an equalizer conveying surface water flowfrom wind tides and surface runoff in high marsh
vegetated primarily with Juncus roemerianus.

Replace an existing failed culvert pipe to restore surface flow between two areas of high marsh bisected by SR 1310.

NCDOT maintenance staff will replace the existing 36" X60' CMP with a proposed 36" X60' CAP in the existing alignment/footprint. There will be no additional impacts to wetlands or
surface waters. The existing pipe elevation will not change and is buried approximately 1' below the elevation of the wetland substrate. A backhoe and dump truck will be used to
excavate and remove the failed pipe.
