= Dear Mr. Zarzecki:
On May 11, 1999, I met with you at the subject property to conduct a site visit for the above
_ referenced project. This project is referenced by the Raleigh Regional Office as NBRRO 099-108.
As a result, it was determined that Hare Snipe Creek is the stream present on the property and
therefore subject to the Neuse River Basin: Nutrient Sensitive Waters Management Strategy;
- = Protection and Maintenance of Existing Riparian Areas, Administrative Code T15A:02B.0233
(NCAC 0233).
In addition, the vegetation present on this stream varies from forested to "grassed". The current
version of the Buffer Rule protects only "forest vegetation"and state that forested vegetation of any
width that exists in Zone 1 must be preserved and maintained. The combined minimum width of
Zones 1 and 2 shall be 50 feet on all sides of the waterbody. Vegetation in Zone 2 shall consist of
a dense ground cover composed of herbaceous or woody species which provides for diffusion and
- ; infiltration of runoff and filtering of pollutants.
