Do you think this will be enough? Or have I mis- represented something in my drawing? Additionally, when we were originally sizing the pipe, we took into account that there would be a foot of sediment in the pipe. I have attached the calculation showing that the pipe will still flow the same storm event that is shown on the approved plans. Let me know if you need anything else! Thanks, Nolan M. Could you send a plan/profile view showing the concept, including the baffles, rip rap changes and notched log sill? Also, would local government be ok with the baffle installation as the pipe is sized to carry a specific storm event and any material (baffle, or sediment build up) would reduce the capacity? This email is in regard to the non-compliance for the project referenced above. Please see below for a brief conceptual outline of the proposed remedy, as well as some representative photographs. We have confirmed that this approach is satisfactory with the project engineer (cc'ed). 1. Leave upstream as it is; accumulation should occur over time as a result of activities below: 2. Install brick baffles at each drop inlet location (upstream side of each junction spanning the width of the flat spot). From inlet, the first one should be 1-3 inches above the invert. The second one should cause 1-3 inches of back water on the first baffle. 3. Install baffle on splash pad with an elevation sufficient to cause 1-3 inches of backwater. 4. Establish a channel through the rip -rap pad with a modest slope that is field adjusted to the sill- see next item. 5. Install a notched log sill at the end of the rip -rap pad with a 3-8 inch drop which should cause 1-3 inch backwater at splash pad. Nearby tree has been marked for this use- photo included- (24" Green Ash). Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about the provided information.
